Back in 2019, I bought a ‘brand new’ 3000W amp off Amazon for $68. The box looked legit. The specs seemed insane. I was hyped.
Three months later, that amp fried my $350 Sundown sub. Why? Because that ‘3000W’ amp was actually pushing maybe 400 watts—and clipping hard the entire time. I didn’t know what clipping was. I didn’t know how to set gain. I just cranked everything and thought ‘louder = better.’
That burnt coil smell? I’ll never forget it.
After that, I went down the rabbit hole. Forums, YouTube, Reddit, dyno tests—I learned everything I could about car audio. And I realized: most of the information out there is either too complicated, gatekept by elitists, or just plain wrong.
So I built the resource I wish I had when I started.
